Flying Wind Monsters, frozen worlds, pyramids, and priests... What's the point of the stories we tell about the beginning of our world?  Genesis speaks of God creating a world of unity and order, with humans at the center--but not in the role you might expect.  What does it mean to be a human made in the image of God?

Read Origin Stories from Joe Heikman, and check out articles 5 and 6 in the Confession of Faith in the Mennonite Perspective (1995).

What is Scripture? Who wrote it and is it God's word? How might you go about reading scripture?

This Sunday we reflected on our understandings of Scripture through a variety of ways. We watched a readers theater featuring the words of Article 4 of the Mennonite Confession of Faith. Krista preached about scripture and living out the Word. We then practised Lectio Divina together as a way to support one another in rest and renewal in our faith.

Read through the service and give the Lectio Divina a try.

-Krista Loewen

Last week we explored our understandings of God but we could have started with Jesus. Knowing who Jesus is invites us to know God. Take a read through the Mennonite Confession of Faith's article on Jesus  and jump into the poetry of Colossians 1:15-23. How do you understand Jesus and God to be connected? How does Paul want to teach us about Jesus? Further thoughts found here!
