The debate over the correct biblical view of same-sex relationships usually centers on the five Scripture texts that directly address same-gender sex (Gen 19 - Sodom and Gomorrah, Lev 18 and 20 - sexual prohibitions, and the writings of Paul in Romans 1, 1 Cor 6, and 1 Tim 1).  And there is much legitimate debate over how those texts should be interpreted and whether or not they even apply to modern same-sex relationships.  But behind all of that, is there another common thread that links these texts--with major implications for the sexual morality and practices of all Christians?

After more than three decades, the debate about same-gender relationships continues on in the Mennonite Church.  As faithful Christians can't reach a consensus, it seems like the Spirit of God is saying different things to different people.  What is God up to?  Can we see this debate as a gift, an invitation to re-examine our beliefs, to learn to know God, and to build healthier relationships?
