What's so amazing about grace?  We know the word, it's in our songs and prayers, and scriptures.  But does it define our faith, how we see ourselves and others and God?  Because it should.

"This Little Light of Mine...Let it shine, let it shine, let it shine!"  Really?  Is that the best we can do as we turn into the new year from a 2016 some commentators have dubbed "worst year ever"?  And yet, when God showed up in the nativity scene, she chose smallness and invitational transformation over grand gestures and forceful change.  Perhaps a "little light" is the best way to move the darkness?

"Restore us, O God!" rings the ancient cry from Psalm 80.  Restore us--heal our hurts, hear our prayers, bring back the goodness that used to be.  This is a cry of our world as well; our hearts are also full of fears and tears, from refugee crises to political and economic instability to the personal conflicts and stresses that typify the holiday season for many.  Where is God as we cry for restoration, and what kind of restoration might God be bringing?
