During the season of Lent, we often talk about the practice of fasting.  We usually understand fasting as an exercise in self-discipline, "giving something up" as a sacrifice to God, to train our minds and hearts and wills to do what God wants instead of what I want.  And that's all well and good.  But the choices that Jesus made on his journey to the cross went beyond spiritual discipline; his fasting in the wilderness made himself physically weak.  Jesus chose vulnerability over security, weakness over strength.  Do we dare to follow in that path?
